A Last-Minute Wedding with Big Dreams

Hue & Cameron - Togtherwith Jo 1
When Cameron and Hue first walked into my office, just three months before their wedding day, they came with heads full of ideas and hearts full of hope. What they didn’t have, however, was time to waste scrolling through endless vendor options or managing a long list of wedding contacts. They looked me straight in the eye and asked, “Can you help us pull it all together?” And just like that, I became not only their civil celebrant but also their wedding MC.
From that very first hour-long meeting, I could see how much this day meant to them. They had a clear vision: a meaningful, relaxed, and personal celebration right in their backyard. I assured them I’d be there every step of the way. Over the next few weeks, we met at least four or five times in person to review legal paperwork, brainstorm ceremony details, create a run sheet, and even guide them through writing their personal vows, as a dedicated marriage celebrant and coordinator.

Capturing Candid Love Before the Big Day
As part of their journey, I also arranged a pre-wedding photo session featuring a beautiful floral backdrop. The couple originally described themselves as camera-shy and “not photogenic” (their words, not mine!), but it only took 15 minutes for their nerves to melt away. Soon, they were laughing, holding each other, and simply being themselves. The results? Stunning. That photoshoot not only gave them great memories, but it also gave me a chance to get to know them on a deeper level, which always helps me as their civil marriage celebrant to design a ceremony that truly reflects their bond.
Their love story is truly one for the books. Eight years ago, Cameron met Van Anh (Hue) while visiting Vietnam. Captivated by her warmth and gentle spirit, he began flying from Australia to Vietnam every 6 to 8 weeks just to be with her. Despite the distance, despite the language barriers, they built something solid, something real. Over time, the laughter and shared moments became their own language, and their bond only grew stronger with each visit. It's love stories like this that remind me why I became a marriage celebrant in NSW in the first place.
The Weather Miracle on Their Wedding Day
The week leading up to their wedding was filled with nerves, not because of the planning, but because of the weather. It had rained nonstop all week, and the forecast predicted more of the same on the big day. But sometimes, love brings its kind of luck. As guests arrived on their wedding morning, they were greeted with clear blue skies and golden sunshine.
Their backyard was transformed into an intimate and charming wedding space, no lavish setup needed, just intentional touches, soft music, and a whole lot of love. Cameron first saw his bride at the altar, and from that moment, everything felt just right. The ceremony was filled with heartfelt words, gentle smiles, and emotion that rippled through everyone present. Moments like these are why many couples searching for a marriage celebrant near me find value in choosing someone who truly understands their style.
A Role Beyond the Ceremony

Hue & Cameron - Togetherwith Jo 2
As their civil celebrant and planner, it was such a joy to help bring their dream day to life. From connecting them with trusted vendors (makeup, dress, catering, music, you name it!) to crafting a ceremony that felt genuinely them, I feel honoured to have been part of their journey. Acting as their wedding MC, and also helped everything flow smoothly from beginning to end.
Cameron and Hue, thank you for trusting me with not only your legal ceremony but also your vision. It was a beautiful reminder that love doesn’t need grand stages, sometimes, it just needs two people, a backyard, and the sun showing up right on time. I’m grateful to have been your marriage celebrant and witness such a pure celebration of love right here in NSW.
